Performance Art
Performance art is a style of visual art in which artists present live actions or events that are staged as artworks. It emerged in the late 1950s and became famous in the 1960s and 1970s as artists sought to challenge traditional forms of art and blur the boundaries between art and life. Notable performances during this time include Yoko Ono's 'Cut Piece' in 1964, where audience members were invited to cut pieces of her clothing, and Marina Abramović's 'Rhythm 0' in 1974, where she let the audience use objects on her body as they pleased. Performance art continues to evolve and remains a prominent form of artistic expression today.
